Description
A Thermo King SG-3500 clip-on genset: a 24.1 hp, 2.1 litre engine delivering 15 kW to a refrigerated container, meeting EPA Tier 4 final and EU Stage V, and tested for 25,000 hours of service life.
The SG-3500 is Thermo King's newer container generator, replacing the SG-3000 with a quieter, lower-emission package. The engine is a 2.1 litre eco-governed diesel with a cast iron block, rated at 24.1 hp, enough to carry any standard refrigerated container at full load. Thermo King says it is engineered for 25,000 hours of running with normal maintenance.
The operating envelope is broad. The set is tested from minus 40 to 122 degrees F and to altitudes of 10,000 feet, which matters on mountain rail corridors and high-desert highways. Voltage regulation keeps output inside the limits ISO 1496 sets for container power, and self-check diagnostics flag faults before they become a failed load. A telematics option is available for fleets that want to see run hours and alarms remotely.
Compliance covers EPA Tier 4 final, EU Stage V and seven years of CARB compliance, so the same set can work in North America or Europe. New and used units are priced from $10,000 to $17,000. The weight, tank and battery table in the source seems to describe an older model, so we confirm those figures from the set on offer.
