Description
A Thermo King SG-3000 clip-on genset: 15 kW and 18.75 kVA at 460/230 V three phase 60 Hz, from a 30.1 hp TK486V diesel, with a 125 gallon tank and the SG+ controller.
The SG-3000 is the long-serving Thermo King container genset and the reason is a plain one: a mechanical engine, a robust steel frame and a heavy alternator, which is the combination that survives being clipped on and off boxes in a yard for years. It powers any ISO reefer on the market and it is available in clip-on, centre-mount and side-mount configurations.
The engine is the Yanmar-built TK486V rated 30.1 hp, running 1,890 rpm on high speed and 1,560 on low, on number 2 or number 1 diesel. The generator delivers 460 V and 230 V three phase at 60 Hz with an apparent power rating of 18.75 kVA. The independent fuel tank holds 125 US gallons, or 473 litres, with smaller and larger options available.
Control is by the SG+ microprocessor: multi-language full-text messages, automatic preheat start, alarm list and reset, running hours and a voltage check, plus auto-restart to protect a load after a fault. EcoPower enhanced operation mode manages engine speed and voltage regulation together for a further reduction in fuel burn. Mounting is offered as pin-mount, with clamp-mount available on request; which one you need depends on the containers you run.
