Description
A Carrier PowerLINE clip-on genset for refrigerated containers, offered as the 69RG15-120W-55, the 69RG15-120W-13 or the 69RG15-130W-05. All deliver 15 kW at 460 V three phase.
The three series numbers are emissions certifications, not capability grades, and choosing between them is a question of where the set will work. Series 55 carries the CE mark and is certified to the European Stage V standard for non-road mobile machinery, with an 18.5 kW engine. Series 13 is the EPA Tier 4 model for the United States, compliant with CARB on purchase and for seven years afterwards before it needs an added emissions system to keep running in California. Series 5 is Tier 4 interim, built with a 23.9 kW V2203-DI export engine, and is offered for use outside the United States only.
All three use Carrier's familiar 2.2 litre diesel with a speed sensor and electronic governor, and the Tier 4 platforms pair it with an ultra-high-efficiency 15 kW permanent magnet generator that cuts the power drawn from the engine by about a fifth. Series 5 uses a field-wound generator producing 460 volts of continuous power, internally excited and self-regulated. All electrical components sit inside the package for resistance to moisture and salt.
FuelWise two-speed operation is standard on the newer series: the controller switches between 1,800 rpm for 60 Hz and 1,500 rpm for 50 Hz according to the refrigeration load, and Carrier quotes savings up to 34 percent against older fixed-speed sets. Mounting is by the RG15 pin bracket to the header rail or by ratcheted clamps to the corner castings, and either way the set leaves the reefer control box reachable. Confirm the series before you order; the export engine on Series 5 is not lawful for use here.
