Description
A Caterpillar mobile diesel generator set from the XQ and XQP range. These are towable, jobsite-ready packages spanning roughly 30 to 425 kVA at 50 or 60 Hz.
Mobile sets are built for a different life than stationary plant. Heavy-duty bases with integrated forklift pockets let a set be dragged and lifted around a site, spill containment holds 110 percent of the engine fluids, and enclosures are sound-attenuated so the set can work where noise is a planning condition. Several models switch between 50 and 60 Hz, which lets one machine serve jobs on different supply standards.
Ratings across the range run from 30 kVA up to 425 kVA on the models Caterpillar builds, with output voltage typically selectable from 120 to 600 V on North American sets and 127 to 480 V on the international ones. Engines step up through the Cat C4.4, C7.1 and C13 with Tier 4 Final aftertreatment on the North American models and Stage V on European builds. Larger sets add automatic paralleling and auto-configuration so voltage and frequency can be changed without reprogramming.
Sizing a set is a real calculation. It depends on your connected load, the starting characteristics of the largest motor, the power factor of the load and how much of the time the set will run near its rating, and prime and standby ratings are not interchangeable. Tell us the load and we will confirm which unit in stock suits it, along with its actual rating, voltage and frequency from the data plate.
