Description
A Carrier PowerLINE 69UG15-068S-24 undermount genset, Series 24. The same 2.4 litre common-rail Kubota engine and 15 kW permanent magnet generator as the clip-on, slung under the chassis with a 68 gallon steel tank.
Undermount is the arrangement for an operator who owns the chassis rather than the box. The set goes under the frame, leaves the container face clear, keeps the weight low and central, and stays with the chassis through container turns. Everything above the mounting is common with the clip-on Series 24, so an operator running both formats has one engine, one generator and one parts list.
The engine is the Kubota V2403-CR-E4B, four cylinders, water cooled, 2.4 litres, with common-rail injection managed by an engine control unit and a diesel oxidation catalyst downstream. It reaches its emissions targets without exhaust gas recirculation, and it is compliant with EPA Tier 4 and with CARB requirements for the life of the unit rather than for a fixed term. Carrier quotes a 96 percent cut in particulate emissions against earlier PowerLINE sets.
The generator is a nominal 15 kW permanent magnet unit with a single-winding contactless architecture, and FuelWise two-speed operation is built in for savings up to 34 percent against sets without it. The standard tank is 68 gallons in steel, with 50 gallon steel, 50 gallon aluminium and 80 gallon aluminium options. With the 68 gallon tank and no fuel the set weighs 1,664 pounds, or 775 kg. Stainless steel exhaust and safety stop controls are standard.
