Description
An MP Series sealless magnetic-drive centrifugal pump for medium-flow, medium-head chemical duty. It is a close-coupled design in sub-ANSI sizes for plants moving corrosive or toxic liquids at lower flow rates, listed at $2,000.
The MP Series fills the space below the full ANSI-dimension pumps. Many chemical transfer, dosing and recirculation duties do not need an ANSI frame, and oversizing a pump wastes power and makes it run away from its best efficiency point. These sub-ANSI sizes are meant to put the pump nearer the duty, and the maker claims lower horsepower and lower NPSH requirements than comparable pumps.
Like all mag-drive pumps, it has no shaft seal. The motor turns an outer magnet ring, and rare-earth neodymium magnets carry the torque through a containment shell to the impeller, synchronously and without slip, so the fluid stays inside. The inner shaft is supported by bearings on both sides, which reduces bearing wear, and slip-fit parts can be serviced on site with ordinary tools.
Wetted materials include 316 and 304 stainless, Alloy 20 and Alloys B and C. Solids up to 1 percent by weight at 500 micron, or 8 percent at 100 micron, can pass, and a high-temperature build handles fluids to 660 degrees F.
