Description
A Thermo King T-1200R Spectrum multi-temperature truck unit, the largest of the T-Series. 11,800 W of cooling on engine power at a zero degree C box, from an X430 C5 compressor.
The T-1200R Spectrum is a truck unit with capacity that reaches into trailer territory, which is why it is specified on the biggest rigid bodies, from about 8.5 metres up. It reaches those numbers with an electronic throttling valve, which lets system capacity track the load rather than run flat out, so temperature holds through frequent door openings and severe ambients instead of drifting between drops.
Cooling is 11,800 W on engine power at a zero degree C box and 7,200 W at minus 20; on electric standby the figures are 7,500 W and 5,000 W. The compressor is the X430 C5, the engine is the TK 376 at 14.6 kW, and the standby motor is 7.5 kW at 400 V or 230 V three phase. Refrigerant is R-452A at 6.25 kg, or R-404A at 6.2 kg on earlier builds.
A Whisper Pro version exists for inner-city work, using telematics to drop into low-noise mode automatically when the vehicle enters a low emission or noise-restricted zone, and returning to high speed for fast pull-down elsewhere. Control is by the TSR-3, which lets the operator trade temperature management against fuel economy per load. Weight is 377 kg on the Model 30 build and 436 kg on the Model 50.
