A Lubbock 10,400 gallon anhydrous ammonia transport trailer built to the DOT MC-331 cargo tank specification, rated 265 psi maximum working pressure, on a tandem axle with spring suspension.
This is a highway cargo tank for anhydrous ammonia: a single-compartment steel pressure vessel with hemispherical heads, a product pump, a tank volume gauge and the valve arrangement the MC-331 specification requires for a liquefied gas hauled under its own vapour pressure. Capacity is 10,400 gallons and the vessel is stamped for a 265 psi maximum working pressure with a minimum design temperature of minus 20 degrees F. Running gear is tandem axle on spring suspension with aluminium rims.

Anhydrous ammonia is a hazardous material and a cargo tank is a regulated vehicle. Before a trailer of this age can be loaded, its periodic test and inspection record has to be current for the MC-331 specification, and the operator needs the endorsements, placarding and emergency response arrangements that the load requires. We describe the trailer. Have a qualified cargo tank inspector examine it, and treat any decision about returning it to ammonia service as an engineering judgement rather than a purchasing one.
