The Carrier PowerLINE 69RG15-120W-55, a Series 55 clip-on genset certified to EU Stage V. It is meant for container operators working in Europe or other markets that accept the Stage V standard.
Series 55 is Carrier's answer to the European non-road engine rules. The set bears the CE mark, and its 18.5 kW engine is certified to Stage V, which sets tight limits on carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, particulates and nitrogen oxides. Behind the engine sits a permanent magnet generator with a single-winding, contactless design, which removes parts that wear and still delivers the full 15 kW a refrigerated container asks for.
FuelWise two-speed operation is standard. The set idles along at 1,500 rpm for 50 Hz and steps up to 1,800 rpm for 60 Hz only when the refrigeration load calls for it. Carrier quotes fuel savings of up to 34 percent against sets without FuelWise and 6 percent against older sets that had it. Tank capacity is 130 US gallons.
