A Carrier PowerLINE 69RG15-120W-24 clip-on genset, Series 24. A 2.4 litre common-rail Kubota engine with a diesel oxidation catalyst, a 15 kW permanent magnet generator, and lifetime CARB compliance.
Series 24 is the PowerLINE generation that ends the compliance clock. Earlier Tier 4 sets were CARB compliant on purchase and for seven years after, then needed an emissions system fitted to keep working in California. The Series 24 engine meets CARB's 2022 amendments to the Airborne Toxic Control Measure for transport refrigeration units and genset engines, and stays compliant for the life of the unit without a retrofit.
It gets there through the engine rather than through a filter. A Kubota V2403-CR-E4B four-cylinder, water-cooled 2.4 litre diesel with an engine control unit meters fuel precisely into a high-pressure common rail, and a diesel oxidation catalyst converts carbon monoxide and particulates downstream. Exhaust gas recirculation is not needed. Carrier records a 96 percent reduction in particulate emissions against earlier PowerLINE sets.
Electrically the set is unchanged in what matters: a 15 kW ultra-high-efficiency permanent magnet generator delivering the 460 V three phase an ISO reefer expects, with FuelWise two-speed operation for savings up to 34 percent against pre-FuelWise sets. Fuel capacity is 120 gallons and the set weighs 1,974 pounds, or 895 kg, less fuel. Standard equipment includes a full-flow spin-on oil filter with bypass, an integral fuel filter with water separator, a fuel heater, a solid-state battery charger and safety stop controls.
