Description
An Eaton 30 kVA three-phase dry-type transformer, 480 V delta primary to 240 V delta secondary with a 120 V lighting tap. It is for shops and small plants that need 240 V equipment on a 480 V service.
Many commercial buildings take 480 V three-phase from the utility, while much of the equipment inside, from welders and compressors to lighting, wants 240 or 120. This transformer bridges the two. It is a ventilated dry-type unit, so there is no oil to contain, with aluminium windings, a 150 degree C temperature rise, and 60 Hz operation. It meets the DOE 2016 efficiency standard and carries the Energy Star label.
The enclosure is NEMA 1, meant for indoor installation. For outdoor mounting, Eaton's WS58 weather shield is the matching accessory. The unit is surface mounted and reverse-feed capable, so it can also step 240 V up to 480 V if the job calls for it. The catalogue number is V48M22T3016.
The price is $3,100. A transformer this size needs correctly sized primary and secondary protection, grounding and clearances for ventilation, so a licensed electrician should size the conductors and make the installation.
