Description

A sealless magnetic-drive centrifugal pump from the MPL and MHL series: close-coupled, driven by rare-earth neodymium magnets, with no mechanical seal anywhere in the process fluid path.

The point of a sealless pump is what it does not have. A conventional centrifugal pump seals the shaft where it passes through the casing, and that seal is the component that wears, leaks and takes the pump out of service, usually with a flush plan and a seal pot to maintain alongside it. A magnetic-drive pump has no shaft penetration at all: the motor turns an outer magnet assembly which drives an inner magnet inside a sealed containment shell, so toxic, noxious and corrosive fluids have no path to atmosphere. For anyone working under reportable-release rules, that removes the main exposure.

The drive uses rare-earth neodymium magnets in a synchronous arrangement, so there is no slip and less internal heat than in slipping mag-drive designs. The inner magnet is straddle-mounted on bearings either side rather than cantilevered, which cuts shaft deflection, bearing wear and shaft load. Slip-fit construction means maintenance and on-site repair need no special tools, and the close-coupled layout removes coupling alignment from the installation entirely.

Eleven models are offered in 316 stainless, Alloy 20 or Hastelloy, with 304 stainless also available. The flow path is generous enough to handle solids at 1 percent by weight at 500 micron or 8 percent at 100 micron, with an optional baffled rear casing for better solids handling. A silicon carbide bearing system with the SiC-X option improves dry-running tolerance, and a high-temperature construction handles fluids up to 660 degrees F. Match every wetted part against your fluid before ordering.
