A plug-and-play 110 V solar package for a shipping container: 300 W panels, 6 V 240 Ah deep-cycle batteries in a NEMA-rated enclosure, MPPT charge controller and a 3,000 W inverter with two outlets. $1,500.

The kit is designed to run a container office off-grid or to sit alongside a utility feed as a redundant supply. Output is ordinary 110 V, so lighting, a laptop, a microwave and a small air conditioner all work without special equipment. Installation is DIY-level: the panels mount on the roof, the battery enclosure and inverter go inside, and the whole thing connects to an existing electrical package in the container.

Sizing is the part worth doing carefully before ordering. A 3,000 W inverter runs lights, a router, a laptop and a fridge comfortably; it does not run an electric heater, a tankless water heater or a full-size home air conditioner, all of which draw more than the inverter can supply. Options include a 6,000 W inverter with four outlets, lithium-ion batteries, an automatic transfer switch between grid and off-grid, a sun tracker, and surveillance and lighting add-ons.
