Description
A 40 ft flat rack, new or used from $3,500, in fixed-end, collapsible or flush-folding configuration — with a 45 mm heavy duty floor and Corten steel cross members and end walls.
Three configurations solve three different problems. Fixed end gives a bulkhead that bundled material like pipe can push against. Collapsible folds the walls onto the deck so empty racks stack for backhaul. Flush folding collapses the end walls into the frame rather than onto it, leaving a clear deck that oversized machinery can be driven or skidded straight across — the configuration for genuinely over-dimensional loads.
Lashing rings are fitted in the side rails, corner posts and floor, rated up to 4,000 kg each on a 40 ft rack. Forty-foot units carry gooseneck tunnels at each end and are sometimes equipped with lashing winches and two-tonne lashing belts. Stanchions can be provided for particular cargoes.
The frame is fully compatible for stacking, storage and transport using the standard interlocking system, with a 45 mm heavy duty floor on Corten steel cross members and end walls. Typical cargo runs to boats, lumber, machinery and structural steel; racks bundle four to a unit for intermodal movement, though this varies by port.
