Description
A 20 ft flat rack — steel frame, timber deck, two end walls and no sides — for loads that will not go through a container door. New or used from $1,600, in fixed-end or collapsible form.
Lashing rings are set into the side rails, corner posts and floor, each good for up to 2,000 kg on a 20 ft rack, and cargo is chained or strapped to those points rather than to the frame generally. The deck is timber over steel cross members, built to take machinery tracks and outrigger loads that would punch straight through a container's plywood floor.
The collapsible version folds its end walls flat so empty units stack for backhaul, which is why leasing fleets favour them; a fixed end gives you a bulkhead to push bundled cargo against. Some 20 ft racks carry forklift pockets, some do not. Beyond shipping, these frames get bought as site bridges, equipment platforms and skid bases — for that work the used units are the sensible purchase.
