Description
A Trail Hand stock trailer with an 8 ft short wall living quarters on a steel frame with aluminum skin and a pressure-treated wood floor — 6 ft 9 in wide.
The construction is the deliberate choice here. Steel frame with aluminum skin and a pressure-treated wood floor is heavier than an all-aluminum build — 9,888 lb empty against a 16,943 lb GVWR — and it is also the tougher combination for stock that leans, kicks and shifts as a group. Wood floors also give better footing than bare aluminum.
The trade is maintenance. Wood rots from underneath where urine soaks in, and steel and aluminum corrode where they meet at the fasteners, so both need inspecting rather than assuming. Twenty-four feet of box at 6 ft 9 in wide with 7 ft 6 in of interior height. An 8 ft short wall living quarters with refrigerator and microwave, A/C and furnace, toilet and shower, fresh, gray and black water with a heater, LP tanks, battery, 110 V wiring and a walk-through door. Seven-thousand-pound axles on 16 in tires, hydraulic jack.
