Description
An all-steel two-horse slant load with a 2 ft short wall dressing room, 12 ft box, 7 ft wide and 7 ft inside — 3,500 lb axles at 7,000 lb gross.
All-steel is the least fashionable construction and the strongest for the money. It takes a kick without denting the way aluminum does, it welds anywhere, and it costs less to buy. What it does is rust — from underneath the floor, along the lower panels, and anywhere the coating has been chipped by gravel.
So the inspection matters more than on an aluminum trailer, and it is straightforward: lift the mats, look at the floor from above and from below, check the frame at the coupler and around the axles for scale and cracked welds. Two feet of short wall with a 7 ft longwall gives a working dressing area. Twenty-one hands of interior height suits horses to about 15.2.
