2003 Sundowner 2 Horse

Description

A steel-frame, aluminum-skin two-horse with a 2 ft short wall and 7 ft longwall, 15 ft box at 7 ft wide, 2,900 lb empty against a 7,000 lb GVWR.

Fifteen feet of box on a two-horse is longer than most, which means real length in each stall and room for a dressing area at the front without crowding the animals. Seven feet of outside width is the modern standard and 7 ft of interior height is 21 hands, suiting horses up to about 15.2.

Steel frame with aluminum skin is the construction that most rewards a careful inspection: the two metals corrode where they meet at the fasteners, and the frame rusts wherever the coating has been chipped. Lift the mats, look at the floor from above and below, and check the frame at the coupler and around the axles. Three-thousand-five-hundred-pound axles on 15 in tires, spare and manual jack fitted. The seller’s note on it is a single word: nice.
