Skid mounting is what separates a bulk plant vessel from a permanent installation. The tank arrives on a structural frame rather than on poured saddles, which means it can be set, levelled, piped and, if the operation moves, lifted and relocated. For seasonal work, for a satellite plant, and for anyone who does not want to commit a site permanently, that flexibility is the whole point.

At 18,000 gallons the vessel carries about 14,400 gallons of product at an 80 percent fill. It is built to ASME Section VIII, Division 1 with a 250 psi maximum allowable working pressure at standard design temperatures, and carries the safety decals and placards required under DOT and NFPA. Typical service is LPG or NGL bulk storage: propane resale, grain and crop drying supply, or a plant feeding vaporisers and a distribution loop.

Skid packages of this size are commonly built with a single or dual bulkhead for transport and bobtail loading, with breakaway protection on the connections.
