A Carrier PowerLINE 69UG15-050S-55 undermount genset, Series 55, certified to EU Stage V, for container chassis working where European emissions rules apply. Standard fuel capacity is 189 litres.
This is the Stage V member of Carrier's undermount family. Its 2.2 litre, 18.5 kW diesel is CE marked as compliant with the European non-road mobile machinery standard. It drives a new high-efficiency 15 kW permanent magnet generator with no brushes or contacts to wear, and FuelWise two-speed control is standard rather than an option.
FuelWise runs the engine at 1,500 rpm until the refrigeration load needs more, then steps up to 1,800 rpm. Carrier rates the saving at up to 34 percent against sets without the feature when hauling perishables and frozen goods at normal set points. The standard tank holds 189 litres, and 113 litre and 258 litre tanks are available. The set is rated to start down to minus 26 degrees C and to run from minus 40 to plus 52.
Being certified for Europe, this set is not the obvious choice for a US-based fleet; look at the Series 13 or Series 24 undermounts for that. Pricing runs $10,500 to $19,000 for new or used. Weight is confirmed per unit, since the source quoted conflicting figures.
