Description
A new 500 gallon ASME propane tank for homes and small businesses that burn propane for heat, hot water, cooking or a standby generator. It holds about 400 gallons of fuel and stands above ground.
When the tank is yours rather than the gas company's, you can buy propane from whichever supplier offers the best price per gallon. A 500 gallon vessel is the size most often sized for a whole house of roughly 2,500 to 4,500 square feet, or for a pool heater and a generator added to ordinary household use. Filled to the standard 80 percent, it carries about 400 gallons.
The shell is 9 ft 10 in. long and 37.42 in. in diameter and stands 3 ft 9-11/16 in. high, with an empty weight of 920 lb. It is built to ASME Section VIII, Division 1, meets NFPA 58, is rated 250 psig from minus 20 to 125 degrees F, and can be evacuated to a full vacuum. The finish is TGIC powder coat under galvanized steel domes, and the tank is registered with the National Board and carries a Canadian Registration Number. A number 72 orifice in the liquid level outage valve is standard.
The listing price is $3,000. An underground-coated build can be selected at order instead. Set, piping and first fill are jobs for a licensed propane installer.
