High cube is the standard specification for a 40 ft reefer — unlike the 20 ft, where high cube units are effectively not made, the 40 ft high cube refrigerated container is the common configuration and the one shipping lines actually run.
T-bar aluminium flooring is the detail that decides whether the box holds temperature evenly. The channels are the return air path; block them with pallets set flat and the unit fights itself. Insulation value is high, the refrigeration system sits in the front wall so the load space stays clear, and the whole unit is suited to temperature-controlled transport as well as static storage.
Non-functioning 40 ft high cube insulated units — reefer shells without working machinery — are a separate and much cheaper option if what you actually need is insulation rather than active cooling.
