Description
A 20 ft refrigerated container, new or used from $5,500, built around R-452A refrigerant and a Thermo King Magnum Plus with a quick pull-down to -40°C.
One point of fact that saves a lot of wasted searching: no major shipping line runs 20 ft high cube reefers. Twenty-foot refrigerated containers exist in standard 8 ft 6 in height only, so if you need a taller cold box you are looking at a 40 ft high cube or a purpose-built unit, not a 20 ft.
The floor is high-grade 6082 T6 aluminium T-section over a stainless underfloor, and the door sill is designed for low air leakage — quoted at 2 m³/hr — which is where a cheap reefer bleeds its energy. Payload is high relative to the tare for a refrigerated box of this size.
This is the size designed for heavy refrigerated cargo, or for operations where a 20 ft footprint simply suits the site better than a 40 ft.
