Description
A 20 ft refrigerated container, new or used from $7,000, with a Thermo King Magnum Plus or Carrier Transicold machine running R-452A and a set point range from -40°C to +30°C.
R-452A is the current generation refrigerant, lower in global warming potential than the R-134a and R-404A it replaced, and the Magnum Plus is a fast pull-down machine — which is what lets a 20 ft box go from ambient to freezing in hours rather than overnight. Power requirement is 460 V three-phase on a 30 A circuit, supplied with a 50 ft power cable.
The internal detail is what separates a container reefer from a walk-in cold room. Four self-closing automatic floor drains, two front and two rear. A flat aluminium floor. A heavy sliding door curtain to limit air exchange every time the doors open. And a safety door releasable from inside — not an optional extra on a unit anyone walks into.
Door opening is 7 ft 6 in wide by 7 ft 5 in high, tare is 6,190 lb and payload 61,010 lb. Forklift pockets are 14 by 4.5 in on 80 in centres. High cube dimensions are also available.
