Three-foot walls are the all-rounder height. They hold a full box of mulch or brush, and with dense material like rock or topsoil you reach the weight limit around the time the box is level, which is exactly the balance a working dump trailer wants.
A three-stage telescopic cylinder does the lifting, driven by a 12 V hydraulic pump off an Interstate deep-cycle marine battery; the control box locks and opens from the front. The rear gate swings either way, as barn doors or as a spreader. The bed is 10-gauge smooth steel on 2 × 3 in cross members at 16 in centres, with 2 × 12 in gussets front and rear ready for wall extensions.
