Description
An expandable prefabricated steel-frame home that opens to 19 ft by 20 ft (380 sq ft) with a bathroom and shower fitted. It suits guest quarters, a site office, a kiosk or a holiday cabin.
It arrives folded as a single package measuring 232 by 80 by 99 in and weighing 7,849 lb, on a flatbed. Unloading is the buyer's job, and you need a forklift rated for that weight or, preferably, a crane waiting on the day. Once it is placed, hydraulic braces and a hinge pulley system swing the wings out to full size.
The unit is not wired. Plan on a licensed electrician to install US-standard wiring, and on connecting the stainless hot and cold water fittings and the PVC drain to a sewer, or to holding tanks if there is no mains connection. The bathroom has a shower valve, sprinkler head, floor drain, mirror box and silent exhaust fan.
Rated loads are 70 mph wind and 40 lb/ft² snow, and the makers recommend concreting the legs for stability. The frame is steel with flame-retardant foam wall panels and an insulated aluminium-magnesium-manganese roof. The floor is glass magnesium board, and the windows are double-glazed tempered sliders. Nobody should stay inside during severe storms, whatever the ratings.
