Description
A used Isuzu D201 diesel engine as fitted to Thermo King refrigeration units, the 2.2 litre direct-injection four-cylinder found across the older SB and SL ranges. Sold as a running unit, pulled from service.
The D201 is the engine underneath a great many Thermo King units still working today, and a serviceable core is worth more than a rebuild kit when a unit is otherwise sound. These engines came off reefer trucks and ran when they were removed; that is what we can say about them, and we would rather say it plainly than dress it up.
Parts availability is good. Overhaul kits, gasket sets, water pumps, fuel pumps, cylinder heads, oil pumps, thermostats, starters, alternators and mechanical seals for this engine family are all in ordinary supply, so a core that needs work is not a dead end.
