Description
A 40 ft LNG ISO tank container, $4,500 — a cryogenic intermodal tank for moving liquefied natural gas by road, rail or sea, with a stainless inner vessel inside a carbon steel outer shell.
An LNG ISO tank is a double vessel. The inner tank holds the LNG; the outer shell carries a vacuum composite insulation layer that keeps natural evaporation to a minimum. Valves and measuring instruments are compactly installed in a lockable rear operating cabinet, alongside the vacuum check gauge connection and a separate document holder.
Built to UN portable tank specification T75 on a standard 40 ft ISO frame with Blair corner castings, so it moves on the same equipment as any container. The design has no pressure build coil — pressurising evaporators use local ground facilities at unloading. Approvals cover road, rail and sea. Boil-off rate on this class of vessel runs 0.15 to 0.30 percent per day, with holding times up to 90 days or more.
The tank can be configured to accept cryogenic transfer pumps. This is regulated pressure equipment throughout its life: understand the function of the apparatus before operating it, and expect the same regulatory oversight on filling, transport and storage that applies to any cryogenic vessel.
