Description
A 10 ft DNV 2.7-1 half height open top container: roughly half standard height, no steel roof, single swing door. Built for dense heavy cargo that hits its weight limit long before filling a full-height box. From $4,000.
Half heights exist because of a simple arithmetic problem offshore. Drilling consumables, mud sacks, chain and scrap reach the payload ceiling with the box a third full, so the extra height is dead weight and dead windage on a crane. Cutting the container in half solves it, and makes loading over the side possible without a man in the box.
This unit is stackable with certified slings fitted, takes a tarpaulin to keep contents dry, and carries internal lashing points for securing loose cargo. It comes with a single swing steel door for access at grade. Certification is DNV 2.7-1 with EN 12079 or ISO 10855-1 depending on build year, and the same range is made in 16 ft, 20 ft and 24 ft with 10, 13 and 16 tonne payload options.
