A new 1,000 gallon horizontal ASME propane tank built for above-ground installation on legs. Water capacity 1,000 gallons, 800 gallons of propane at a full fill.
Above ground is the cheaper and faster way to put 800 gallons of propane on a property. There is no excavation, no bedding and backfill, no anode, and no risk of the tank shifting in saturated ground. The vessel stands clear of the surface on its legs, and every fitting and the gauge stay in plain sight for inspection and filling.
This is the size that suits a large house, a commercial kitchen in daily use, a generator expected to carry a real outage, or an agricultural load such as crop drying. It is also the common central vessel for a metered system serving several buildings. Two or more can be manifolded where a single tank cannot meet peak demand or where liquid service is needed.
The tank conforms to ASME Section VIII, Division 1 and complies with NFPA 58, rated 250 psig MAWP from minus 20 to 125 degrees F, and may be evacuated to a full vacuum. A vessel in the 501 to 2,000 gallon band normally wants 25 feet of separation from a building and from the property line under NFPA 58; your local fire official has the final word, so establish that before the pad is poured.
