Description
A single-axle seven-by-fourteen dovetail with brakes fitted — full width and useful length without the weight and cost of a second axle.
Most single-axle trailers are narrow. This one is seven feet across on an A-frame chassis, which gives you the deck area of a much heavier trailer while staying light enough to move by hand and simple enough to maintain — one axle, two tires, two sets of bearings.
Fitting a brake to a single axle is worth noting: many trailers at this weight go without, and a braked axle changes how the combination stops with a load on. The dovetail lowers the rear of the deck for the reinforced loading ramp. Pressure-treated pine decking, C-channel tongue, powder-coated finish, 15 in wheels on bias-ply tires, built-in D-rings and a spare tire holder.
