Description
A used 40 ft high cube container from shipping line service, sold wind and watertight. It is the lowest-cost way to get around 2,700 cubic feet of tall, lockable storage.
Size and height for the money is the case for this one. A 40 ft high cube gives about 2,698 cubic feet, roughly 300 more than a standard-height 40 ft on the same footprint. Its door is 2.59 m high, tall enough for plant, stacked pallets or racking that would not clear an ordinary opening. Buying used keeps the price down, in exchange for dents, scuffs and faded paint from years at sea.
The box is Corten steel with hinged cargo doors at one end and two locking bars on each. It has a 28 mm plywood floor on steel cross members and four vents, and it is listed as wind and watertight. It weighs about 3,750 kg (8,270 lb) empty.
Inside it measures 12.00 m long, 2.35 m wide and 2.70 m high, with a door width of 2.34 m. On the outside it stands 2.90 m tall, so check the height of any gateway or overhead line on the route in.
