Description
The tube-top rail is the upgrade here: 2 in × 2 in welded tube instead of angle iron around the top of a 6 ft 4 in × 16 ft dovetail deck.
Angle-iron top rails are adequate and cheap; tube resists racking, which is the twisting motion a trailer makes when one wheel drops into a pothole with a heavy load aboard. Over years of daily use that is what opens up welds on a lighter frame. Combined with a C-channel tongue and an angle-iron main frame, this build is aimed at contractors who load and unload every day rather than at weekend use.
Tandem 3,500 lb greaseable axles carry electric brakes on the rear axle, with a breakaway system fitted. The rear gate is reinforced beyond the usual and the dovetail reduces the ramp angle for low-clearance equipment. Pressure-treated flooring, a powder-coated finish and a spare tire holder complete it.
