2024 Shadow 2 Horse Bumper Pull

Description

An all-aluminum two-horse bumper pull at 2,500 lb empty with a 5,300 lb GVWR — the smallest capacity here, and a pressure-treated wood floor.

The GVWR is the number to read carefully. At 5,300 lb gross against 2,500 lb empty there is around 2,800 lb of payload, which is two average horses and very little else. That is a deliberate design for towing behind a lighter vehicle, but it means loading has to be worked out rather than assumed.

Interior height is 7 ft 6 in — 22.5 hands, full-size-horse clearance — on a narrow 6 ft 4 in outside width, so this suits tall rather than wide horses. A pressure-treated wood floor gives better footing than aluminum and is replaceable board by board, but it rots from underneath where urine soaks in, so inspect it from below as well as above. Two feet of short wall with a 7 ft longwall.
